Program Policies

It's important for participants to read and understand the Quest program policies, so that we are all on the same page. If you have questions about our policies, please contact the Quest Coordinator.

Here are the most important things you need to know:
Deposit: A deposit of $250 for international trips and $100 for domestic trips is required to be paid by each participant by one week after they have been accepted for the trip to secure a place in the group. This deposit is NONREFUNDABLE.

Payment Schedule: Once accepted as part of a Quest group, participants will be given a specific timeline for remaining payments. All payments must be made on time. Each participant must sign the "Participant Financial Responsibility Form" found here.

Payment Method: Payments should be made to the order of "The Crossing, Inc." by check or money order. Please include the participant's name and the Quest destination in the memo line. Payments should be turned in at The Crossing's office or mailed to: Quest Program, The Crossing, 1127 University Ave, Madison, WI 53715

Cancellation: Cancellation by a participant must be in writing. The deposit will not be returned.  All monies received by or on behalf of the participant will be refunded up to the amount of actual non-refundable trip expenses already incurred at the time of the cancellation. The Crossing will retain all shareholder funds as contributions for the Quest program. Cancellation of the trip by The Crossing will result in a refund of all amounts not already used for trip purposes except for the deposit.

Travel Insurance: For all international Quests, basic travel insurance will be purchased from an agency such as Cultural Insurance Services International. Travel insurance costs are included in the budget of each Quest. In the event of cancellation, premiums paid for travel insurance will not be refunded.

Refund for Overpayments: Overpayments for a Quest may occur because shareholder contributions or other sponsor monies are received after a participant makes the final payment. Refunds for overpayments will be made after travel has occurred, in a single payment, via check to the participant.

Proof of Health Insurance: All Quest participants must provide proof of health insurance. If a participant in an international Quest does not have health insurance, travel insurance purchased by the group will be sufficient. If a participant on a domestic Quest does not have health insurance, the participant must purchase short-term health insurance on their own.

Liability and Insurance Waivers: Each participant will be required to sign a release from liability form and an insurance liability form.

Travel with Group: Participants are expected to travel with the Quest group throughout the experience. Groups will decide together where they will meet to begin and end the Quest. They may elect to depart together from campus, or to meet at the airport.
